Design Blog #5

While creating the story on Wix, I became frustrated with the platform being so difficult to use. It's difficult having to plan out when each group member can work on it due to only one user being able to edit the website at a time. The challenges of figuring out the different components of the website was a huge struggle for our group, as none of us had previous experience in website design. However, as I slowly proceeded to piece together Eric Hansen's story, I felt a thrill of excitement. The story that we have created so far has beautiful elements of imagery and color that truly evoke interest in the readers. At first, I only thought of how Eric's story needs to get out to the students of Isla Vista but not how I should do it. Our group made our multimedia story engaging, as it provokes the readers to keep going with its questions and engaging quotes. Actually composing the story was a challenge since our interview with Eric was very sporadic and unorganized. We received so much rich info that we needed to piece together chronologically. For the next draft, we hope to be able to continue his story in a chronological format, but include specific components on wix that allow us to articulate his deeper experiences that may not fit the chronological timeline.
